Around 250 journalists, producers, bloggers and social media experts are expected at Scoopcamp 2019 to discuss the latest trends and developments in journalism on September 25, 2019 at Hamburg’s “Theater Kehrwieder”. The conference is being organised by nextMedia.Hamburg and Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa news agency.
This year’s keynote speakers include British journalist Alan Rusbridger, Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford and former editor-in-chief of The Guardian daily. Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media in Hamburg, noted: “Alan Rusbridger continues to show undisputed commitment to the values of journalism and a willingness to change amid “digital innovation.” Personalities like Rusbridger continue to shape journalism of the future, he added. Rusbridger is set to give a keynote entitled “Breaking News: How to regain trust in a world of information chaos” with emphasis on Developments in the Media World.
Shazna Nessa, Head of Visuals at The Wall Street Journal, will received the scoop Award 2019 for developing several innovative news products and advancing interactive and visual formats. Updating “personal toolkits”
Given the right support tools, anyone can create visuals, according to Jeremy Caplan, Director of Education at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the City University of New York. Caplan will give a keynote entitled “New Tools and Trends for Visual Storytelling” with emphasis on upgrading personal toolkits. Caplan has spent eight years working with more than 120 entrepreneurs from 35 countries and has helped several media start-ups to turn their ideas around. Delegates can try out and apply the tools presented during an interactive workshop.
